How to Get Started Playing Ice Hockey

The information provided below is a guideline for players of all ages on how to get started playing ice hockey.
 
 Steps to Start Playing Ice Hockey 
 
1. Learn to Skate
The first thing to do is to learn to skate. The Dundalk Ice Dome offers weekly Learn to Skate Classes. Before taking hockey lessons, you should be able to skate forward, stop, and skate backward. Attending  public skating sessions at the Ice Dome is also a great way to develop your skating ability. You may want to wear a helmet and elbow pads while you are skating.

2. Learn to Play Hockey
The Dundalk Ice Dome also offer hockey instruction for absolute beginners, intermediate and advanced players through our weekly Learn to Play programs. Certified hockey coaches ensures everyone on the ice gains knowledge and experience whilst learning how to play ice hockey. You don't even have to worry about the essential equipment as the Ice Dome provides this for all Learn to Play Sessions.

WEEKLY LEARN TO PLAY ICE HOCKEY CLASSES EVERY THURSDAY 6.30pm & SATURDAY 11.00am  U14's €8 Adults €12

3. Join a Team
Our instructors will help you decide when you have enough skill to your game to the next level and enjoy playing on a team. The Ice Dome also offer "pick up hockey" sessions where you just show up and play. This is a great way to enjoy the game withouth having to join any team in particular.
