Learn to Skate:
- Learn to skate is non commitment course which means you can some and go to suit our own personal schedule.
- This class is meant for absolute beginners and people who wish to become that bit more comfindent on the ice
- Children and adults alike are all welcome
Weather you have dreams of playing ice hockey or figure skating competitively or if you’d just like to be more comfortable on the ice this is the class to get you started.
The purpose of this class is to teach basic skating skills, and to prepare skaters for the many other classes the Dundalk Ice Dome has to offer. In this class skaters will learn the most basic of skills from falling down and getting back up safely to skating forwards and backwards. Because the coaches of this course have strong backgrounds in both ice hockey and figure skating skaters may even learn some sport specific skills. Zimmer Frames are available for the less surefooted skaters.
The ultimate goal is not only to get every skater skating but it is to make sure that everyone is having fun doing it. Because this course runs weekly there is no commitment and you are welcome to come and go as you please, but remember: practice makes perfect. When the skater has mastered all of the basic skills they will be encouraged to move on to one of the Ice Dome’s other fun and interactive courses.
The Learn To play (hockey) class is also open weekly to new participants so feel free to give that a try. If you’re more the figure skating type you’ll have to check with reception to see when the next available course is running because it runs in 6-week increments. If you are unable to make the 6-week commitment or cannot make it to the rink on the days the courses are offered, private lessons are available.
